Trauma-informed Instruction

I have been a GED educator for six years. It is a privilege to come alongside adults and help them earn their high school diplomas. My students are amazing, resilient people who want to change the trajectory of their lives and their family members' lives. I believe trauma is often what got in the way of individuals completing high school, and it is often what keeps them from going back for their GED or being successful in that pursuit. A passion of mine is to speak on trauma-informed instruction to groups of educators. A trauma-informed approach fills in the gaps and makes the difference! As a workshop presenter or a keynote speaker, I find great joy in presenting research-based best practices for a 360 degree approach that factors a student's whole life into our educational approach. providing trauma-informed instruction is easier than you think and more successful than you can imagine! Warning: it will positively change the educator's life as well!

I have taught at the Oklahoma Literacy Conference 2023 and 2024 and Literacy Texas 2024.  I tailor my material to the needs and interests of your group or organization. I have taught presentations such as Triggers, Trauma, and Academic Success; Teaching Adult Learners Through Their Pain Points; and Trauma-Informed instruction: A 360 Degree view of Instruction that Creates Healthy Graduates. To schedule a presentation with your group or conference, please use the form under "Contact Me" or email me at [email protected]. I am available as a workshop presenter and a keynote speaker. Presentations for individual organizations can also be taught online/via Zoom. The presentation will be live and include the opportunity to interact about the material and ask questions.
